My Kinda' Stove
This is a picture of my old stove that I absolutely adore. We have recently added some metal baskets above it on the wall to make things we use for cooking more accessible. As you can see, it has a side door where I have room to store my lids for pans as well as my baking stones. There is a wide area on the cooktop between the 4 burners. I love this space because I have room to set things without them catching on fire. I keep an iron trivet in the middle that's shaped like a cool looking sun. Our stove is a gas stove and as far as I'm concerned, I'll never own an electric stove unless it's only for the oven while still maintaining the gas cooktop.
Do you have a favorite piece in your kitchen? Tell me all about it and why you like it so much.

I love the new post! Old stoves rock!! I am always green with envy when I watch 30 Minute Meals with Rachel Ray. She has the awesomest stove. That mini toaster/broiler pop-up slot she has just tickles my fancy every time. Nothing sexual implied here, I mean that cleanly. I just love cooking with neat stuff.
My favorite piece (for lack of a cooler one as Jen and I are apartment dwellers) is my chef's knife. It is the cheapo Ginsu special, but it is still sharp after 4 and a half years of use. I can do almost anything with that bad boy. Cube meat for chili, cut cheese for omlettes, slice veggies for stir frys. It even slices bread well in a pinch. I know this is probably pretty boring, but I just get a kick out of using it. Cooking is fun!
PS Electric stinks because you don't get instant heat and as stoves age the burners become unreliable and "take off" (inexplicable rapid increase in heat) on you suddenly for no reason. I can't wait to move to the midwest and get gas (hee, hee).
I don't think your comment is boring at all. I loved reading it! I found a fellow stove person...haha! Thanks for all the details. I don't own a knife like yours but it sure sounds great. My husband is fascinated by big, sharp knives while working in the kitchen. You two could cook up a storm together....LOL!

I am getting a little antsy for a new post here. Not that your other blogs aren't totally cool, but I love how you entertain here.
To connect this comment with my previous one, I am getting antsy for a new chef's knife. I keep oggling the nice weighted, forged ones at Bed Bath and Beyond every time I am in there. They are a little more work, as you have to have them sharpened every six months professionally (those home sharpeners you see on the shelves at the kitchen stores just wreck your blade) and you have to use a honing steel before each use, but they provide nice weight and balance that makes using them a breeze. Plus, their design makes you less apt to harm yourself when you use them (when they are sharp, that is).
If you and your husband ever come to visit the Portland, OR area, let me know and you can drop by so we can "play" with the knives together (LOL). I'm sure we'd cook up something fierce for our wives to enjoy.
Hey! It's great to be missed...haha! I almost posted my concert review on here last weekend but decided to post it on my adoption blog instead. I've been pretty busy for a while and havn't had a computer with me when inspiration hits...LOL! I'm always in the car or in the shower or someplace where paper and pencil or a electricity (computer) shouldn't be used.
I hope to start posting stuff on here sometime in the near future....especially since there's people out there wanting to read it!
Thanks again for visiting (and "complaining") ;)
Jen
