Mere Words
So many times, this thought comes to my mind. The thought that there are no words to describe God. I know I've also talked about this on some of my other blogs and maybe even this one. This is just something that intrigues me. I love words. I love knowing what their meaning is and how they are appropriately used. It is difficult for me to try and grasp the idea that God cannot be described by mere words.
If you took all of the best and most important and most beautiful words in every language ever in existance and stacked them on top of one another forming a tremendously large tower of greatness, this would not be enough. It wouldn't even be close to describing God.
God describes Himself as "I AM". He is the only One who can have the ability to choose an appropriate description and title for Himself and He chose for Himself "I AM". This .....This statement......is extremely deep and far beyond what any human can comprehend. It transcends all adjectives available to the human mind.
I looked up the word "transcend" because it was the word that popped in my head for that last sentence. When I read the definition, I knew God gave me that word to use here. I'll close this post with the amazing definition from God about Himself.
Transcend
1. To pass beyond the limits of: emotions that transcend understanding.
2. To be greater than, as in intensity or power; surpass: love that transcends infatuation.
3. To exist above and independent of (material experience or the universe):
"One never can see the thing in itself, because the mind does not transcend phenomena" (Hilaire Belloc).
