The Smurfs!

When I was little, my sisters and I were crazy about the Smurfs. My mom still has the gazillion little smurf figurines that we use to smurf with in the dirt, in the snow, etc. They were the most loved and smurfed with of all of our toys. Anytime the cartoon was on, we were there smurfing it. We always smurfed over who was going to be Smurfette and Papa Smurf when playing with the little dolls. So, mom and dad smurfed 3 Smurfette dolls an 3 Papa Smurf dolls so they could enjoy the sound of us not fighting.......well, .....not fighting over the smurfs anyway.

What was your favorite cartoon when you were just a little smurfling?

Natalie was big into the Smurfs, so have seen my fair share of the Smurfs. I always rooted for Gargamel and Azreal (sp????).

My favorites (as Tim could guess) were the Superfriends or Batman and Robin. I also liked Scooby Doo.

I can definately see an older brother rooting for the bad guys just to make their little sister upset....hahaha!

I was a fan of Scooby Doo as well but I'm a bigger fan now than I was when I was little.

I'm currently into the Pink Panther and watch the cartoons, with Tim, on DVD every night before bed. Sad isn't it? ;)

Last week, we had a free weekend of Boomerang. The girls enjoyed watching all of the old cartoons, especially Scooby-Doo and Tom and Jerry. Abbie kept saying that she also liked the Pink Puma. I finally figured out what she was talking about when I walked into the room.

"What did the Pink Panther say when he stepped on an ant?"

dead-ant, dead-ant, dead-ant (you are suppossed to sing this to the tune of the theme song to the Pink Panther)

Funny!

My mom use to sing the "dead-ant song" while using her fingertips to "play the piano" on our backs. It always tickled and we knew we wouldn't get a break from laughing and being tickled until the end of the song. Then she would start over again!

Just plain torture.....hahaha!

I'm impressed that your kids use the word Puma. Good grief, I think they're more intelligent than I am concerning vocabulary. ;)

Blame Dora the Explorer for the use of Puma correctly in a sentence. My Abbie sometimes talks about animals that I have to take a minute to think about before I can talk with her. And then I just think.....that Dora has struck again.....making my kids smarter than I am.

I'm so glad you explained that one. I never use the word "puma" and couldn't figure out where these kids were hearing it. I should've known it was that Dora girl....hahaha!

I tripped over here via blog, via blog, and I just had to comment under this heading. I smurfed the Smurfs all of the smurfing time when I was little. We didn't have much money, so we never really got the figurines.

I caught an episode of the Smurfs a couple of years ago on Boomerang, and I think that the spelling of the cat is Azriel.

My favorite were the Transformers, GI Joe, and He-man. My parents didn't think I would grow up to be a heathen if I watched He-man and, lo and behold, they were right. I always got a kick out of the GI Joe thing, with characters like Shipwreck talking about exwives on a kids show (LOL). Don't get me wrong, divorce isn't funny, but you get what I mean.

PS I envy you for being old enough to remember the Regan years. The earliest political event I remember is the campaign between Michael Dukakis (sp?) and George HW Bush, as I was born in January of 1981. I still remember seeing the Beach Boys play at his inagural parade. I was depressed for a couple of months after President Regan passed away. The argument could easily be made that he was the greatest president of the 20th century. I'd toast to that.

I'm a fan of President Regan. I'm not really into politics and don't understand all that stuff, but I do like the character of the man. I hope we get more like him in the future. It's scary to think about where we could be if God hadn't sent us good men like that.
